Barack Obama elected US President

11/5/08

I am not a fan of US politics and government stuff but yeah, I think it's worth note-taking that the United States had just elected their 44th president (and also the first ever African American US president) - Barack Obama. Really, this is an instantly historical moment, not just for the US itself but for the whole world as well - a very positive one.

Election of an African American as the new US president does not equate to "hey we just had gotten rid of racism in this friggin world" but it's a good start of what these political and social people call "the long national process of healing".

So I guess people in some parts of the world are celebrating this election of Obama as the US President. But let us be realistic, in a short while, this happy hangover will not linger too long because the realities of politics will soon assert itself.

Anyhoo, check Obama's Democratic Convention Speech [Video and Text].

8 years of failed policies led to the pitiful state of affairs America is in today. Hopefully Barack can walk his talk and bring the change he promised during his campaign. The next few weeks / months will be exciting (moreover historical) for the Americans... and quite possibly, the rest of the world as well.
